Join October 13-16 for our annual Christian Children's Home of Ohio Mission Trip
Please Register by October 3
The CCHO Mission Trip is a great way to serve children healing from some of the most abusive situations. The CCHO staff works with the kids who live on campus over the span of months to put smiles back on their faces, loving them in the name of Jesus. In addition, the Equine ministry aids healing through the companionship of horses. CCHO's outpatient and in-home counselors serve hundreds of families each year. When we help CCHO through construction projects, we cut their costs dramatically. This allows funds to go to very vital ministry. Lastly, this trip is a great way to fellowship and bond with other guys at Discover.
We are adding one extra day to the trip in hopes that we can interact with the kids more. The kids like to interact with us; they find it hard to believe we're there simply because we care.
Here's how you can get involved: Read the facts below and get registered! You don't have to have construction experience. You just need to be willing to work hard and get dirty. Also, we need to raise $ 4,000 to cover construction costs. Any financial contribution is greatly appreciated. We also need food donations if you are interested. We would love to have you join us!
Due to the COVID restrictions, this year's trip is limited to those who can fully participate in the construction projects.
Regarding other Covid related items: Much of our work will be either outside or in somewhat open areas but no guarantees can be made. Because it's construction work, we'll need to do what is necessary to get the job done. Ministry goes on, and we pray God's protection. Understandably, each person will have to determine their level of comfort attending this year's trip. Feel free to ask any questions that you might have.
Dates: Choose any comb that works for you!
Wednesday-Saturday, October 13-16, 2021. You can arrive Tuesday night (October 12) and stay until the completion of the projects on Saturday afternoon (October 16), or you can come up for one or two days. The more guys helping on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, the better, but Saturday helpers are definitely needed! We'll begin prep work late Tuesday afternoon and night for anyone interested in coming up early.
When should I arrive?
It is best to come up the night before because CCHO is a beautiful 2 hour drive from Columbus to Wooster. We try to be on the job sites by no later than 7:30 am. Plus, hanging out after work is so much fun!
All Meals and Housing will be provided:
There are mattresses and showers. You need to bring your own bedding and towels. This year, we'll more than likely be showering and sleeping in the hospitality house and/or the maintenance building.
This year's tentative projects:
We'll be building forms, pouring multiple concrete projects, power washing, as well as removing a damaged wall on the end of the main pavilion and replacing it. Plans are also in place to build a small storage building. All jobs are tentative. We'll do whatever is best for CCHO when we arrive.
